A new version of the GVAR document, “GOES Operations Ground Equipment (OGE) Interface Specifications, DRL 504-02 Part 1, Revision 2”, has been published in 2011, which includes the updates for the calibration coefficients in the visible channel, the eXtended GOES for High Inclination (XGOHI) mission updates, and GOES O-P changes.

The GOES ground system has added the stray light correction algorithm, which removes the stray light contaminations from the images of GOES Imager in the IR channels, thus eliminating the necessity of cancelling images. For the coming eclipse seasons, beginning on February 15, 2012, the stray light correction will be performed for GOES13 and followed by other spacecraft in the future. The GVAR block 0 will be updated with the stray light status, and the detailed changes are documented in the white paper, “Straylight Correction Status Word in GVAR Block 0”.

For detailed discussion of GOES Imager and Sounder calibration, please refer to the GOES Imager and Sounder Calibration web page.

The detailed discussions of the GOES navigation are provided by the “Earth Location User’s Guide”
